Ruddick/Wood Window Installation Project Underway, Restaurant Still Open

Ruddick/Wood is installing new widows for their restaurant on the corner of E. 1st Street and S. Edwards St in Newberg. While that section of the restaurant is closed, the tavern and outdoor dining areas remain open for brunch and dinner.

“These ancient single-pane giants will be replaced by two modern, double-pane [FoldUp Windows], giving us a little quieter and better insulated room when they are closed, but allowing us to open up the room to the outside during nice days and evenings,” the company wrote on an Instagram post.

The project was made possible with a post-COVID small business grant facilitated by the City of Newberg. DeBortoli Construction is installing the windows for the restaurant.

CCRLS Mobile App Unavailable for “Extended Period of Time”

According to a release from the City of Newberg, the Chemeketa Cooperative Regional Library Service (CCRLS) mobile phone app is experiencing a service disruption, and likely will for an extended period of time.

The app became inoperable on Nov. 26 due to an unexpected withdrawal of technical support from one of the app developers, the release stated. CCRLS said they are seeking a replacement for the app.

CCRLS Mobile App is a way for library card holders to explore the regional library collective’s catalog and place holds as well as other functions. While the application will not work, the library collective’s online catalog still works. You can access that here on both desktop and mobile browsers.

According to a press release, Newberg-based sparkling wine producer Corollary Wines is preparing to open a tasting room in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA in late spring 2024.

“We wanted to create a bold, inviting space for guests to experience our wines and discover first-hand why the Willamette Valley is the perfect place to make world-class sparkling,” said co-owner Jeanne Feldkamp. “Every aspect of the tasting room’s design is geared toward fostering connection with the land in a surprising and delightful way. We can’t wait to welcome folks to enjoy the views with us and learn about our passion for bubbles.”

Corollary Wines purchased a 57-acre property — formerly timber land — in 2022 with plans to developed the land into a winery and tasting room practicing permaculture and regenerative agriculture principles. The property had never been used for agriculture before. The winery planted 13 acres of wine grapes so far.

At the new estate, Corollary will focus on traditional champagne grape varieties including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Blanc. As one of a very small number of growers that plant exclusively for sparkling, Corollary will leverage the extensive knowledge Dan and Jeanne have gained over the last seven years to experiment with root stocks, clones, and row orientation as they work to find the best ways to farm for sparkling in the valley.
