Newberg Eighth-Grade Youth Football beat Barlow at Barlow High School on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, according to head coach Bryan Long. Newberg scored on its first drive, which Long said included several run plays. A long reception by Hayes Steward from Max Anderson moved the team into the red zone, and Graydon Wright scored a few plays later. After the kickoff, Steward intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown with a block from Jackson Long, Long said. Penalties and a fumble stalled Newberg’s next few possessions, and the team led 12-0 at halftime.

Long said the linemen took over after halftime on both sides of the ball, the team ran the ball effectively, and the defense shut down Barlow, led by Wyatt Lewis. The team has a bye week next and then begins the playoffs. Long said Newberg sits alone atop the league and is waiting to learn its first-round opponent. Long did not include the final score in his email update.
