NEWBERG, Ore. — Harvest Moon Sangria Bar and Antique, Freak & Flea, both on First Street in downtown Newberg, announced they are closing.

Harvest Moon Sangria Bar, which opened as a food cart in Tigard in April 2023, as a brick-and-mortar in Tigard in July 2024, and in Newberg in July 2025, will continue as a traveling sangria cart, the format in which the business started.

“Sometimes the hardest part of being a business owner is knowing when to pivot,” said Harvest Moon owner Jules Moseley in a post on Instagram. “I’ve realized that letting go of one version of your dream doesn’t mean giving up on the dream itself.”

Harvest Moon Sangria Bar was recently notified that the building that houses the business at 503 E. First St. was listed for sale in September. Moseley initially told Newsberg she intended to keep the business open and was looking for a business partner to buy into it.

The 2,060-square-foot building is listed for $575,000 according to its LoopNet posting. The posting also said the owners have invested $100,000 in improvements and updates, including all new electrical and water. The building was last sold in July 2024 for $250,000, according to property transfer records.

Moseley said the brick-and-mortar’s last open day is Friday, Oct. 16. The business is selling equipment, utensils, and other supplies starting the week of Oct. 12.

“The truth is, brick-and-mortar businesses are hard,” said Moseley on the business’s Instagram page. “Especially for those of us who didn’t come from money, don’t have investors waiting in the wings, or can’t easily secure business loans.”

As part of the closing festivities, Harvest Moon will host a final party at the brick-and-mortar at 6 p.m. Oct. 24, featuring a live DJ and food. Moseley will park the Harvest Moon Traveling Sangria Bar in front of the location, where she will serve sangria and other drinks from the full bar.

While the storefront is closing, Moseley said she is open to finding a brick-and-mortar home in Newberg again. In the meantime, she said, the move to a traveling cart is necessary for the business to survive.

“Harvest Moon isn’t dying,” Moseley wrote. “She’s just growing wheels.”

Down the street at 610 E. First St., a paper sign hangs on the door of Antique, Freak, & Flea that once read “We Are Temporarily Closed.” In September, owner Dennis Olson scratched out “Temporarily.”

The original sign, posted in July, said the temporary closure was due to “personal and family health issues.” At the time, Olson had hoped to open again soon, but as the issues persisted, he decided to close for good.

Antique, Freak & Flea opened in 2017 at 606 E. First St., where Little Bird Boutique now operates, according to state records. In 2018, the business moved next door to 610 E. First St.

The business is closed as Olson moves boxes of inventory out of the space. There is no clear timeline for when the space will be vacated or listed for lease.
