CARLTON, Ore. — ROCO Winery opened its new hospitality destination, CASA ROCO, to the public Monday, June 22, offering wine flights, Italian-inspired small plates, and outdoor amenities at its Marsh Estate Vineyard property in the Yamhill-Carlton American Viticultural Area.
General Manager William Kobyluck said the early reception has been strong.
“Our guests are so impressed with the location, the beautiful tasting room, the lawn and bocce court, and the food and wine,” Kobyluck said.
The venue is open seven days a week and offers three wine flights — including the “Diamond” sparkling-only flight, “Portfolio” taste of ROCO’s whole lineup including Chardonnay and Pinot Noir selections, as well as Italian wine imports exclusive to the property. Wines by the glass and bottle are also available for purchase, and a food menu featuring antipasti and individual pizzas. Flights range from $40 to $50 per flight.
The Italian wine and food components reflect ROCO’s ownership structure. The Newberg winery was acquired by Herita Marzotto Wine Estates — the Italian wine group formerly known as Santa Margherita Gruppo Vinicolo, founded in 1935 by Count Gaetano Marzotto — in 2021, marking the family’s first winemaking venture outside Italy.
“We are part of a larger Italian family now, and we’re excited to share some stunning wines from some of the most notable regions in Italy,” Kobyluck said. “The wines we’re pouring at CASA ROCO are truly gems in the portfolio, and many of them you can only find here.”
That extends to the food menu as well, described as “Italian inspired eats,” including antipasti items such as lemon focaccia, bruschetta with mascarpone, and a cheese and salumi board. CASA ROCO also offers eight-inch pizzas including vegetarian and meat options.
Buying and moving on to that property was no ROCO has sourced Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Marsh Estate Vineyard for many years, Kobyluck said, making it a natural site for the new venue. The 23-acre vineyard, planted in 2007, sits on a knoll between Newberg and Carlton. Herita acquired the property in 2025. Prior to becoming CASA ROCO, the stone structure on the property served as a private residence, Kobyluck said.
“ROCO has been sourcing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Marsh Vineyards for many years, so the location was always special to us,” Kobyluck said. “It was kismet, and the timing couldn’t have been better.”
The opening comes less than two years after ROCO received a significant industry honor: its 2013 RMS Brut Delayed Disgorgement was named the No. 1 wine of 2024 by Wine Enthusiast on “The Enthusiast 100” list. The wine received a score of 98 out of 100 from reviewer Michael Alberty, who described it as among the best sparkling wines he had tasted from the West Coast in years.
Kobyluck said the recognition has carried tangible benefits for the brand.
“We were so humbled to receive that recognition from Wine Enthusiast, and absolutely, it certainly hasn’t hurt,” he said. “Being part of a multi-generational family business, one that has a deep well of experience in the global wine industry, has given us great perspective. With that longevity, there’s an eye towards long-term investment and the continuation of the legacy.”
On future plans, Kobyluck said CASA ROCO will remain the winery’s primary focus for the near term, with events and additional programming planned, and that work at its Vista Hills property is also in progress.
“We have big plans for events and other fun things here,” he said. “We do have plans for Vista Hills — stay tuned.”
