NEWBERG, Ore. — Sip Coffee Co., the teal drive-thru coffee stand that has operated from a parking lot on Oregon 99W for more than three decades, will close its current location at the end of May after its landlord declined to renew its lease, owner Kelly Gregory said.
Gregory said the closure does not mean the end of Sip Coffee Co. She is actively searching for a new location in Newberg and has asked the community for help finding one.
“We’re hoping to stay in Newberg,” Gregory said. “We’re looking for a place to call home that welcomes our heart and hustle for the community.”
The stand has operated from the same parking lot for more than 30 years. Gregory said she has owned Sip Coffee Co. for nearly 16 years and that the previous owner operated it for approximately 16 years before her.
The property is owned by an entity, Wilson’s NAPA Auto Parts of Newberg (TWGW, Inc.), that also owns several NAPA Auto Parts stores, including the Newberg location adjacent to the stand — which is why the site is commonly referred to as the NAPA parking lot, Gregory said.
She clarified that NAPA Auto Parts, as a brand, is not the landlord, as not all NAPA stores are owned by the same operator.
In mid-March, Sip Coffee Co. posted on Instagram seeking leads on available properties, asking community members to share options near busy intersections, parks, schools, shopping areas, or high-traffic roads. Gregory said the business is open to leasing or purchasing a property suitable for a drive-thru stand with good visibility and easy access.
“Our customers are amazing,” Gregory said. “I am trying to point folks towards the positive of us moving and reopening bigger and better.”
