The Chehalem Cultural Center is seeking artist submissions for its biannual art show, the Yamhill Artist Showcase, by Monday, September 4.

“The goal of this county-wide showcase is to highlight, honor and create broader recognition of the incredible artistic talent of Yamhill County visual artists,” wrote Chehalem Cultural Center Galleries Coordinator Katie Spain on the showcase’s information page.

Spain added that this will be the first student category showcase. The showcase’s guest judge is Bradley Lawrence of the Lawrence Gallery in Lake Oswego.

The show is open to all Yamhill County-based artists 18-years-old or older. For the student showcase, students from first to 12th grade are eligible to apply. All mediums and sizes are considered, and the site states that any artist at any point in their career are welcome to apply.

The Showcase winners from 2021 practiced a wide-variety of mediums, from textile/quilt to porcelain to acrylic.

The adult showcase is $30 to submit, the student showcase is free to submit.

Yamhill Artist Showcase Details:

  • $30 fee to submit
  • Artists must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Applicants must currently live in Yamhill County to be considered.
  • All artworks must be original works made by the artist.
  • All mediums, sizes and styles of artwork are welcome.
  • Artists can submit up to three pieces of artwork.
  • All pieces will be juried based on originality, quality/craftsmanship
  • Selected artworks will be exhibited in the Parrish Gallery for a three-month period
  • Selected works must be for sale and realistically priced.
  • A W-9 form will be required upon acceptance into the show.
  • The CCC will take a 40% commission from all sales.
  • Application fee is non-refundable, regardless of acceptance into the show
  • Diptychs, Triptychs and Polytychs are considered a single entry
  • Jewelry sets are considered a single entry
  • Images must be in a JPEG or PNG format and should be titled accordingly: First_Last-shortened title-0x0x0in.
  • 3D artworks may submit up to three additional images of different views for each artwork. Please group 3D views in the image title with A, B, C indicators.
  • Works on paper must be framed, and all 2D work must be wired, and ready to hang. Other wall-hung artwork should be wired if possible.

Yamhill Artist Showcase Awards:

Ribbons and Cash prizes will be awarded. 3 works will be selected as “Best in Show,” and 10 honorable mentions. A People’s Choice nomination will be accepted during the exhibition and announced at the end of the show.
