Pulp & Circumstance, the Newberg gift shop located on the corner of S College Street and E 2nd Street, is celebrating its 10th-year anniversary with a First Friday party on June 2, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“As my 10th year of owning and operating Pulp & Circumstance approaches, I feel thankful,” wrote owner Jennifer Sitter in an email. “Thankful that we have survived 10 whole years and thankful for this sweet community that continues to support my little shop.”

The anniversary is a reminder of how much time has flown by, Sitter said. Opening in 2013, she has watched her own kids grow up from toddler age when she opened, as well as employees who started attending college, graduated, got married, and started families.

“It makes me feel ancient that I have owned this business for a decade,” she wrote.

Sitter said that leading with authenticity and consistency, as well as good old-fashioned hard work, has kept Pulp & Circumstance relevant through the years — including the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I have always wanted my customers to enjoy the authentic experience of shopping at Pulp & Circumstance and continue to strive to make the shop fun and unique, both in our product offerings and in our environment,” Sitter wrote.

The 10-year anniversary party will be during Newberg’s First Friday Art Walk, which takes place at local businesses in the downtown area monthly on the first Friday of each month. There will be complimentary treats from Red Hills Market and sparkling wine from Duck Pond Cellars, as well as a free gift with purchase for the first 100 customers and door prizes throughout the night. Pulp & Circumstance will also offer tours of their vacation rental space above the shop.

“We want to say thank you for supporting Pulp & Circumstance for the past decade,” Sitter wrote. “We wouldn’t be here without you.”
