NEWBERG, Ore. — Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue plans to begin excavation and site preparation for the new Station 20 in late September as demolition of the former fire station on East Second Street concludes, according to Corrine Haning, public affairs officer for the agency.
The rebuild is moving forward following approval of the land use permit process with the City of Newberg. Firefighters and paramedics moved into temporary stations across the street in mid-August, and demolition of the former building began in late August, Haning said.

Haning told Newsberg in October 2025 that construction could begin with site preparation in early 2026.
The bell from the former station is among the items being preserved. The bell was ordered in 1898, the same year the Newberg Fire Department officially formed, Haning said. It will be featured in the new Station 20 sign, along with the plaques that accompanied it on its former frame. A fire station pole and a number of other historical items also are being preserved for the future entryway.
The project is funded by a general obligation bond voters approved in November 2021, according to TVF&R. The former station was built in 1940 and remodeled in 2012. Haning said the new station is designed around emergency response efficiencies and firefighter health and safety.
Haning said construction may create additional dust and asked residents with concerns to contact TVF&R.
“We recognize that construction can create a bit of extra ‘dust’, so please reach out with any concerns,” Haning said.
