NEWBERG, Ore. — A Dundee man was killed Sunday afternoon after an electric bicycle he was riding collided with a truck towing a boat trailer on a curved stretch of Hancock Street in Newberg, according to the Newberg-Dundee Police Department.
The collision occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. on the westbound curve of Hancock Street near Harrison Street. Bystanders and emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the rider — identified by NDPD as Paul Rusciolelli, 68, of Dundee — was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the department, Rusciolelli was riding home when the collision occurred. It was his 68th birthday.
The driver of the truck and trailer remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. No signs of impairment were detected from either party, according to NDPD.
The incident prompted the closure of the roadway for several hours.
The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, Newberg Public Works, and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted NDPD in the investigation.
