In a press release, the Newberg-Dundee Police Department (NDPD) confirms they’ve recovered the bodies of Benigno Hermenegildo-Pascuala, 40, and Eufracio Lopez de Jesus, 39, on November 26. The men had been reported missing just a day earlier.

According to reports, Hermenegildo-Pascuala and Lopez de Jesus were last seen in Newberg on the night of November 24, reportedly involved in a heated argument. Investigators used digital forensics and video surveillance to trace their movements to Roger’s Landing County Park.

An oil slick near the boat launch caught the attention of search teams. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue deployed an underwater camera, locating Hermenegildo-Pascuala’s vehicle submerged in the water.

With assistance from the Lake Oswego Fire Department‘s dive team, authorities recovered the vehicle, finding both men deceased inside.

The Newberg-Dundee Police Department states, “We’re still unclear on why the vehicle ended up in the water or what led to this tragic event.”

The police department expresses thanks to the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, the Lake Oswego Fire Department, and Three Angels Towing for their support during the investigation.

Investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are seeking more information from community members. Anyone with information can call the NDPD non-emergency line at (503) 538-8321.
