Former Assistant Returns as Newberg-Dundee Interim Superintendent

NEWBERG, Ore.—The Newberg-Dundee School District Board of Directors (NDSB) has appointed David Parker as Interim Superintendent.

Parker, who retired as Forest Grove superintendent after 34 years in education, will take the helm from October 21, 2024, to June 30, 2026. He’s no stranger to Newberg-Dundee, having previously served as Assistant Superintendent for six years.

According to a press release from the NDSB, Forest Grove stewarded a $129 million bond under his leadership. In addition to his leadership and financial knowledge, his 34-year career has included roles as a science teacher, assistant principal, principal, and executive director of secondary education.

NDSB Chair Deb Bridges is confident in Parker’s abilities.

“Dave’s experience as Superintendent in Forest Grove and Assistant Superintendent here in Newberg will be a great asset,” she said in a press release. “He’ll work with us to stabilize and rebuild what we lost during the budget crisis, bringing a positive outlook to the challenges ahead.”

Parker is ready to hit the ground running.

“We have our work cut out for us, but I’m excited to collaborate with our staff, students, and community,” he said. “I’m looking forward to reconnecting with colleagues and tackling the crucial task of creating a financially stable school district.”

Parker said he plans to hear from staff, students, and parents about their experiences.

“Your input is crucial, and I’m committed to making sure it’s heard,” he said.

Parker also intends to build on the work started by his predecessor, Dr. Paula Radich, in identifying and addressing issues within the District Office.
