CPRD Briefly Closing Aquatic Center Leisure Pool
According to a post on Instagram, Chehalem Parks & Recreation District (CPRD) is closing the aquatic center leisure pool and locker rooms from August 26 to September 15.
The competition pool will still be operational, and will need to enter and exit on the competition side, not the lobby side.

NDPD Illicit Massage Investigation Leads to Arrests
According to a press release from the Newberg-Dundee Police Department (NDPD), detectives learned through tips from community members that there were potentially two illicit businesses—Amber Massage and Lavender Foot Spa—in the City of Newberg where sexual acts were being exchanged for money.
“It is important to note that many of the women involved in these illicit businesses are the victims of human trafficking,” the release stated. “During the service of these warrants, the Newberg-Dundee Police were accompanied by advocates from the Yamhill County Crime Victim Assistance office, to ensure that any potential victims were connected to services as soon as possible.”
On July 17th, Newberg detectives, along with detectives from the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office and McMinnville Police, executed search warrants on both businesses. They were accompanied by the special investigators from the Oregon Board of Massage Therapists. Both locations were found to be in possession of fraudulent massage licenses displayed inside the business.
In addition, three arrests were made for charges related to promoting prostitution and prostitution. This investigation is ongoing and may lead to additional arrests as more suspects in this criminal enterprise are uncovered.
City of Newberg Seeks Digital Archivist and Grant Writer
The City of Newberg is seeking to hire for a new position within city government: Digital Archivist and Grant Writer.
The full-time position is part of the public works department and reports directly to the city manager and senior engineer of the city. The position pays $5,635.07 to $7,212.40 monthly.
The Digital Archivist and Grant Writer will assist with digital archiving and data integrity connected to engineering documents, while scanning and formatting legacy data into digital formats. The position will also seek out and write grants for city engineering and adjacent departments to help bring grant money into the city.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree “in any field with a heavy emphasis on research and creative writing,” according to the job posting from the City of Newberg. Applicants with a master’s degree in library science or previous experience working with digital archives will be shown preference. Completing a criminal background check is also required.
