No First Friday ARTwalk, Wednesday Market First Week of July
According to the Newberg Downtown Coalition, there will not be a First Friday ARTwalk or Newberg Wednesday Market during the first week of July. The events are paused due to their proximity to the Fourth of July holiday, as well as historic precedent for warmer temperatures.
Both events will resume during their next scheduled days: July 10 for the Newberg Wednesday Market, and August 2 for the First Friday ARTwalk.

Audeant Wines Awarded Platinum at Decanter World Wine Awards
Newberg-based Audeant Wines earned a Platinum Award for its 2021 Luminous Hills Vineyard Pinot Noir at the Decanter Wine Awards. They are one of only two American wine brands to receive the designation.

“Audeant in Oregon’s Willamette Valley works with high elevation cool vineyard sites that allow the Pinot Noir grape to retain bright acidity and energetic palates dancing with delicate high-toned red berry fruits,” said Decanter judge Bree Stock MW in a press release. “It is a restrained hand in the cellar that can coax such a sense of place and Pinosity from American Pinot Noir.”
According to the release, Audeant’s pinot was one of six Platinum-level pinots: four Cru Burgundies, one from Australia’s Yarra Valley and from the Valais in Switzerland, and one from North America’s Willamette Valley.

Newberg’s Austrian Sister City Representatives Visiting Early July
Representatives from one of Newberg’s sister cities—Poysdorf, Austria—are visiting Newberg for eight days in early July.
“There are several similarities between the two cities which sparked this relationship,” reported the City of Newberg in a press release announcing the visit. “Both are centers for their local wine industry and have major highways running through them to serve visitors and travelers passing through to other vacation spots. Both are rural communities of moderate size with a modest industrial base.”
The City of Newberg established a sister city relationship with Poysdorf in 2006, its second sister city relationship following the sister city establishment with Asago City (formerly Wadayama), Japan in 2000.
The delegates from Poysdorf—including the town’s Bürgermeister (Mayor) David Jilli, City Council members, and wine industry representatives—will spend their time learning about Newberg, exploring historic and significant sites, traveling to area wineries, and exploring statewide landmarks like Mount Hood.
The City of Newberg is asking residents to consider joining a few community events supporting the delegation’s visit:
- Welcome Committee | July 2 at 9 a.m. | Chehalem Cultural Center
Our welcome committee will host a photo exhibition at the Chehalem Cultural Center, with a reception on July 2 at 9 a.m. featuring photos from Poysdorf taken by a member of the delegation, Helmut Seidl. Coffee and pastries will be provided. - Tree Dedication | July 2 at 10 a.m. | Memorial Park
Newberg’s Mayor and Poysdorf’s Bürgermeister will dedicate a tree in Memorial Park on July 2 at 10:30 a.m. to represent friendship between the two cities and the growth of their relationship. - St. Paul 4th of July Parade and Rodeo | July 4 at 10 a.m. | St. Paul
Newberg’s Mayor and City Council will accompany the Poysdorf delegation as they ride in the St. Paul 4th of July parade at 10 a.m. and attend the St. Paul Rodeo later that day.
