Large Bird Migration Flying over Newberg April 22 – May 16
According to the Bird Alliance of Oregon, there is bird migration activity happening over Newberg starting April 22 and ending May 16, 2024.
The alliance encourages houses, buildings, and cities to turn off lights at night time to help birds with their navigation as they migrate.
“As migrating birds pass over brightly lit cities, light pollution (skyglow) drowns out the stars, confusing them and luring them into urban areas,” the alliance wrote on an Instagram post. “Once trapped in the windowed maze of the city, birds either hit buildings directly or circle them until they collapse from exhaustion.”
