Newberg Businesses Encourage Local Shopping on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday
The Newberg Downtown Coalition (NDC) and participating businesses are encouraging Newberg locals to do some holiday shopping with local vendors this year on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday with a promotional raffle.
“Choosing to shop locally is an investment in the heartbeat of our town — the small businesses the fill our downtown core,” said NDC executive Director Aubrey Nichols. “Spending money on local businesses keeps the funds in our community, supporting the families who own and operate these businesses, as well as they employees who live and work here.”
All participating businesses donate a gift certificate of $25 or more to a gift basket and every time someone makes a sale (retail, tasting rooms or restaurants), they get to enter to win the gift basket and the more they shop, dine and taste downtown, the more chances to win.
Usually the gift card basket is worth over $500, said Pulp & Circumstance owner Jennifer Sitter, who organizes the event each year. More than 20 local businesses — restaurants, bars, and retail establishments — are participating this year.
“The more you shop, dine, and sip, the more chances you have to win the gift certificate basket,” Sitton said.

Ruddick/Wood Celebrates 10 Years
Local restaurant and tavern Ruddick/Wood is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary (and owner Paul Losch’s birthday) with a party on Friday, November 24.
The tavern will close to the public for the evening and host live music with Groove Syndicate from 7 – 9 p.m., with a DJ taking over for the rest of the night. A $25 ticket includes complimentary snacks and a beverage from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
Those coming after 8 p.m. tickets reduce to $10, which includes one complimentary beverage. Additional food and drink will be available for purchase all night. All ages are welcome until 10 p.m.
Cycle Yamhill Awarded Grant for Gravel Mountain Biking Routes
According to a release from Cycle Yamhill County (CYC), the mountain biking and cycling organization received a grant from Travel Oregon to cover the costs of wayfinding signage and a park kiosk.
“We’ve talked a lot about well-vetted gravel cycling routes here, because gravel roads are safer for cyclists and they have some of the best scenery, too,” stated the release.
The project will run through 2024. Those interested in helping can do so by emailing maccyclingclub@gmail.com, and interested parties can review the planned routes at the CYC website.

Newberg Christmas Light Route Accepting House Submissions
The Newberg Chirstmas Light Route is accepting submissions for the most decorated homes and neighborhoods in the Newberg area. Submissions are due by December 3, 2023.
“While we would like to feature every home, a limited number of homes will be selected from the submissions,” a release from the organization stated.
To make a submission, users must submit a photo or detailed description of the decorated home or neighborhood in order to be considered.
Homes must be decorated every day between December 10 and December 26.

Rosmarino Osteria Italiana Honored as Top 100 Restaurants in America
Booking and reservation system OpenTable released their list of the top 100 restaurants in America for 2023.
The list is “culled from over 12 million verified diner reviews and dining metrics including diner ratings, percentage of reservations made in advance, and five-star reviews, the list highlights some of the top spots favored by diners this year,” according to the release.
Rosmarino Osteria Italiana was the only restaurant from Oregon included on the list, thanks to its 4.9-star rating on the platform.
