Clocks Fall Back an Hour This Weekend

Check your wall clocks and watches: Daylight Savings Time is ending Sunday, November 5 at 2 a.m. Don’t forget to set manually-set watches and clocks back an hour on Sunday.

NPD Honors Fallen K-9, Sam

The Newberg-Dundee Police Department squadron rode through town in memorial of their K-9, Sam, who died after experiencing a sudden medical problem, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

“[Sam] was rushed to a vet late last week with a sudden medical problem, and although we were hopeful for a good outcome, poor Sam was not able to recover,” the post read.

Sam, a Belgian Malinois, and his handler, Ofc. Paul Rapet, established themselves as one of the “most hard working teams in the area,” the post continued.

“Our K9’s live at home with their handlers and are a part of their families,” the department’s post read. “While the loss is deeply impactful to all members of our department, it is especially hard on the handlers who spend each and every day with these special dogs. The kind words and community support has definitely been appreciated.”

Studio 306 Collective Launches Holiday Market for Season

Studio 306, located at 305 E Sherman Ave in Newberg, is opening their holiday market for daily operations from November 6 to December 21, 2023.

The market will feature handmade gifts and art from local makers around Newberg-Dundee and Yamhill County.

“As a collective of artists here at 306, our vision is to offer as many options of original art, handmade gifts and art classes as we can,” wrote owner Marion McMuldren on the studio’s website.

The studio’s 2,700 square-feet of newly renovated gallery space will be filled with paintings, custom lighting, handmade jewelry, greeting cards, candles, wearable art, and more.

Old Town Bar and Grill Starts Industry Night

Old Town Bar and Grill, located at 315 E 1st Street in Newberg, is starting an industry night, where service industry and winery workers can receive $1 off of well drinks and draft beers.

Ray’s Produce Stand Closes Operations Oct. 31, Opens Tree Market in November.

Local summer produce stand Ray’s Produce on the corner of Hancock and Main Streets is ceasing produce operations for the season on October 31.

The produce market will be replaced by a tree market in November. Stay tuned on social media.

Yamhill County Cultural Coalition Nears End of Grant Application Window

The Yamhill County Cultural Coalition (YCCC) 2024 Grant Application window is now open, closing November 11, 2023.

“Each year, YCCC receives an allotment of Oregon Cultural Trust money to fund cultural activities in Yamhill County. Through a competitive application process, YCCC awards project grants of up to $2500. Since 2004, YCCC has distributed over $1,000,000 to local cultural activities.”

The grant previously funded culture driving events like the First Friday Art Walk, McMinnville’s Art & Wine Walk, the Mac Farmer’s Market, and the Newberg Farmers Market.
