Artists Invited to Design Wine Barrel Landmarks in Dundee

DUNDEE, Ore. — The City of Dundee is seeking artists to help create a public art wayfinding project designed to guide visitors while celebrating the community’s wine industry, agriculture, and history.

The Dundee Wayfinding Project, funded in part by Travel Oregon, will commission artists to transform recycled wine barrels into artistic landmarks placed throughout the city. The barrels will feature designs and storytelling elements highlighting Dundee’s founders, local vineyards and farms, and community members who have shaped the town’s identity.

Selected artists will each receive $500 per barrel and may be asked to complete one to three barrels. Finished pieces will include signage and QR codes linking to video stories about Dundee’s people and places.

Artists will pick up their barrels after May 1 and must complete the work by July 17. The project is expected to be installed in August, with a public celebration for artists to follow.

The call for artists is open to individuals and teams working in visual media, including painting, wood burning, and collage. Applications are due April 17 and should be emailed to bethany@traveldundee.com.
