Downtown Newberg has dozens of small shops, restaurants, and tasting rooms participating in Black Friday sales and Small Business Saturday events this year, on the weekend following Thanksgiving.
Wherever you make purchases at a participating downtown business, you’ll earn an entry to win the Local Love Gift Basket, filled with $25 gift cards to each participating organization.
Jennifer Sitter, owner of Pulp & Circumstance, has lived in Dundee since 2008 and operated her business since 2013.
“Every single year, Small Business Saturday is my busiest day of the whole year, which is crazy and amazing, and I just always feel so blessed that this community really values shopping small,” Sitter said. “It really does make a difference. Small businesses, we employ people locally. We donate locally. When we get a whole bunch of orders online … our staff does get excited.”
She employs three staff members, plus herself.
“One thing that’s really special about downtown Newberg is that there are so many independently owned and operated small businesses,” Sitter said. “When you come out for Small Business Saturday, you really are going to be seeing the owners of the businesses working that day, because most of the small businesses are operated by the owners as well. You’re really going to be seeing the small businesses in full force, and it’s kind of neat to see.”
