George Fox Football Falls to Lewis & Clark in Oregon Cup Matchup
PORTLAND, Ore. — George Fox University dropped its first Oregon Cup game Saturday, falling 38-10 to Lewis & Clark.
The Pioneers struck quickly with an 80-yard touchdown run on the game’s first play, then recovered a fumble to take a 14-0 lead. By the end of the first quarter, quarterback Dashiell Weaver had thrown two touchdown passes for a 21-0 advantage.
Freshman JJ Leman put the Bruins on the board with a seven-yard pass to Tucker Land, but Weaver answered with a 46-yard scoring strike, and a field goal pushed the halftime score to 31-7. George Fox added a late 31-yard field goal from Ben Rembisz but could not close the gap.
Leman threw for 202 yards and a touchdown, with Karsen Denault leading receivers at 97 yards. Defensively, Jacob Erickson recorded two sacks and a forced fumble.
George Fox fell to 0-2, while Lewis & Clark improved to 2-0. The Bruins return home Sept. 20 against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

George Fox Men’s Soccer Opens Conference Play with 1-1 Tie Against Willamette
NEWBERG, Ore. — The George Fox University men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Willamette on Friday, Sept. 12, in a competitive Northwest Conference opener.
Freshman Carson Tapia scored the lone goal for the Bruins, who controlled much of the first half. George Fox goalkeeper Chase Nelson made four saves to keep the Bearcats at bay until Ky Iliev scored for Willamette in the 84th minute, tying the match despite Willamette playing a man down after a red card in the 58th.
Tapia led the Bruins with four shots, while Eugene Peltier and Isaac Williams added three each. Head coach Paul Karver praised the team’s effort but said the Bruins need to capitalize on scoring opportunities to finish games.
George Fox is now 2-1-2 overall and 0-0-1 in NWC play. Willamette fell to 0-3-2, 0-0-1 NWC. The Bruins travel to Pacific on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 2:45 p.m. for their next matchup.

George Fox Men’s Soccer Rallies to Tie Pacific, 1-1
FOREST GROVE, Ore. — The George Fox University men’s soccer team came from behind to force a 1-1 tie with Pacific on Sunday, Sept. 14.
Caden Matsumoto scored the first goal for the Boxers in the second half, giving Pacific a 1-0 lead. George Fox responded in the 82nd minute when Isaac Williams found the bottom right corner of the net to even the score. Goalkeeper Chase Nelson made two saves to keep the Bruins within striking distance.
Head coach Paul Karver said the comeback showed “a great deal of character” from his team despite conceding the first goal. Eugene Peltier and Merric Merino each recorded a shot on goal.
George Fox improved to 2-1-3 overall and 0-0-2 in Northwest Conference play, while Pacific fell to 1-2-2, 1-0-1 NWC. The Bruins travel to Pacific Lutheran in Tacoma, Wash., on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 2:45 p.m. for their next match.

George Fox Women’s Soccer Earns Scoreless Tie with Willamette
NEWBERG, Ore. — The George Fox University women’s soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with Willamette on Friday, Sept. 12, marking its third tie in four games this season.
Goalkeeper Marisa Lam made seven saves for the Bruins, who limited the Bearcats to 11 shots in the second half. Liv Haima and Grace Bach each had a shot on goal, while freshman players earned their first conference minutes.
George Fox is now 0-1-3 overall and 0-0-1 in Northwest Conference play. Willamette improved to 1-1-2, 0-0-1 NWC. The Bruins travel to Pacific on Sept. 14 for a noon kickoff.

George Fox falls to Willamette in Northwest Conference opener
NEWBERG, Ore. — The George Fox University women’s volleyball team opened its Northwest Conference schedule with a 3-1 loss to Willamette on Friday, Sept. 12.
The Bruins dropped the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-17, despite strong efforts from Gracie Bearden, Lexi Baer, and Jordan Hahn. Fox rallied in the third set, winning 25-12 behind seven kills each from Baer, Bearden, and Addison Goff, and continued to fight in the fourth set before falling short. Mikaila Kronholm led the team with 18 assists, while Bearden and Isabella Avila recorded double-digit digs.
Head coach Emily Davis credited Willamette’s play and said the team will use the loss to improve. “Willamette played better volleyball than we did tonight,” she said. “We have a lot of season left to improve.”
