Round Table Pizza closed its doors on Aug. 31, 2024. In February, Hawaiian Bros purchased the property with plans to demolish the building and construct a 3,100-square-foot restaurant featuring drive-thru and dine-in service. The Hawaiian-inspired chain is expanding into Newberg as part of a broader push into the Pacific Northwest.
“We are honored and excited to bring the ‘Ohana [Hawaiian for ‘family’] spirit’ of Hawaiian Bros to Newberg,” said Alex Karcher, who leads the franchise group JCK Ohana LLC. “It’s a dream come true for us, and we can’t wait for our community to fall in love with the food like we have.”
Sara Rhodes, director of executive communications for Hawaiian Bros, said Newberg stood out as a promising market.
“It’s a fast-growing community with a strong local presence, and the mix of residents, tourists, and college students creates a strong customer base,” Rhodes said. “Its accessibility and economic growth make it a natural choice for expansion.”
Founded in Kansas City, Missouri, Hawaiian Bros currently operates 66 locations across 10 states and has plans to expand to over 160. While still relatively new to the Pacific Northwest—with only one location in Portland—the chain plans to open at least five more in the region, according to a press release.

While no construction timeline has been set, the City of Newberg approved Hawaiian Bros’ application to proceed with demolition and rebuilding on April 9, 2025.
Renderings obtained via public records show a proposed restaurant with dine-in seating, two drive-thru lanes, and a distinct architectural style.
“In a new market like Newberg, we aim to create a fast, friendly experience that makes every guest feel like ‘ohana’—whether they’re cruising through the drive-thru or dining in,” Rhodes said. “Our restaurant design offers a bright, welcoming space with an inviting island vibe.”
The Hawaiian Bros menu features plate lunches with marinated chicken or pork, served with steamed rice, macaroni salad and a side of vegetables or soft serve.
“Our team delivers warm hospitality with speed and consistency,” Rhodes said. “And our craveable, island-inspired meals keep guests coming back for more.”
Hawaiian Bros is the second Hawaiian-themed restaurant announced in Newberg. Roxy’s Island Grill is also opening soon, according to its website.More information and a full menu are available at hawaiianbros.com/menu.
