Ruddick/Wood Building Increases Marketing, Removes Street Seats
NEWBERG, Ore.—Former Ruddick/Wood restaurant owner Paul Losch tore down the outdoor parking strip “street seats” structure at 720 E 1st Street on Friday, March 7, marking the final step in the restaurants departure from the space they’ve used since founding in 2013.

Phillip Higgins from Newberg’s Pacific Crest Real Estate Advisors is contracted with the building’s owner to assist in the marketing and sale of the property.
In an information sheet, the space is listed at $3,500 per month with tenant responsible for all expenses, including real estate taxes, building insurance, and maintenance (also known as a triple-net or NNN lease) alongside utilities.
The 3,800 squarefoot restaurant and tavern space, which seats 100 guests, comes with a “turn key restaurant”, including hoods, appliacnes, refridgeration, tables, chairs, and more according to the fact sheet.

Local Artists Donate $2,000 to Newberg Habitat for Humanity

NEWBERG, Ore.—On Wednesday, March 5, local artists John and Maida Cummings donated $2,000 to the Newberg Area Habitat for Humanity in recognition of the nonprofit’s 30 years of service.
The donation, raised through sales of their artwork, was presented to Habitat Executive Director Shannon Selah at the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce.
“John and Maida’s donation of proceeds from their personal artwork sales is very touching,” Selah said. “What a beautiful way to connect art with supporting local families in need.”
John and Maida Cummings, longtime contributors to Newberg’s arts scene, recently exhibited 60 works at the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center following a previous show at the Chehalem Cultural Center. John Cummings also participated in the 2024 Art Harvest Studio Tour, presenting at Artisanal Wine Cellars.
The Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce, which hosts rotating art exhibitions at the Newberg Visitor Center, supports initiatives that showcase local talent while strengthening community engagement, Executive Director Scott Parker said.
Newberg Area Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit that helps families build and improve housing. The organization emphasizes the role of homeownership in creating stable communities.
Women-Owned Downtown Businesses Gather for International Women’s Day
NEWBERG, Ore.—On Thursday, nearly 20 women business owners from downtown Newberg gathered at the corner of 2nd and College Streets to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Organized by Lauren Wylie Donoho, owner of Minthorn Mercantile, the event provided an opportunity for networking and a group photo, highlighting the presence of women entrepreneurs in the community.
