Local Launches Laundry Limo Pickup and Delivery Service in Newberg

Newberg local Danielle Hernandez launched her pick up and delivery laundry service she’s calling Laundry Limo in late 2024.

NEWBERG, Ore.—A Newberg resident is bringing a traditionally East Coast service to Oregon wine country with the launch of Laundry Limo, a new pickup-and-delivery laundry business that caters to busy families, students, and local businesses.

Danielle Hernandez, who works full-time in the tasting room at Durant Vineyards, started her laundry service business in August after a friend on the East Coast suggested the idea.

“My friend was buying a laundromat in Maine, and she said to me, ‘You know, this whole pickup and delivery laundry service is huge—it’s slated to grow by like 40% in the next couple years,’” Hernandez says. “My first question was, ‘What in the world is pickup-and-delivery laundry?’ I didn’t even realize it was a thing.”

Despite its lack of awareness, the concept is straightforward: customers schedule a pickup time online, place their dirty laundry outside their door, and Hernandez collects, washes, folds, and returns it in branded bags at a scheduled delivery time.

For residential customers, the service costs $2 per pound, with automatic billing through her online system. Commercial clients receive custom quotes based on their specific needs.

The timing seemed perfect for Hernandez, who moved to Newberg from Sherwood in 2021 with her family. With her two sons getting older, she found herself with more time to pursue a new venture.

“My kids are getting older, so I’m having a little bit more time on my hands,” Hernandez said. “I was thinking about him and my younger son too—they are both so busy with school and sports, and I started thinking about what I could do with that free time.”

By coincidence, the home Hernandez purchased in Newberg came equipped with commercial washer and dryer units, making the startup relatively low-cost and straightforward.

Though the business officially launched in August, Hernandez didn’t secure her first customer until December. Since then, she has steadily built a client base that includes both residential customers and commercial accounts.

Crystal Merrow, co-owner of Level Up Cycle & Fitness, said she accepted an offer to trial Hernandez’s services during January—traditionally their busiest month of the year. While they opted to return to laundering their own fabrics due to the costs of running a lean and growing business, she said the experience was positive.

“Danielle was very prompt with picking up and dropping off very tidy and clean towels,” Merrow said. “She took very good care of us.”

Hernandez said she sees opportunities all across town, and more are popping up the more she looks. A friend of hers owns a local RV park, and she distributed flyers there. In other cases, she said it’s moms who are too busy or need a chore break. Recently, an elderly woman reached out who said it was getting too difficult to make it to the laundromat.

“She said she doesn’t have a washer and dryer. Going to the laundromat as become difficult since her health took a turn,” Hernandez recalls. “It just warms my heart that I could be helping.”

Hernandez takes pride in the care she provides to customers’ laundry. She checks all pockets before separating them into color and fabric types. Then she washes and dries according to the fabric needs, folds the clothes, puts them in branded laundry bags, and delivers them back to the customers.

“I’m realizing I take care of the clothes with way more care than I even give my own,” she said.

Hernandez said she is focused on building awareness through word of mouth and online presence, which can be difficult when starting a service like this. But, she has seen the direct result of helping out community members in this small way, and feels strongly she can build a consistent client base in the area.

“I’m not trying to convince anyone like you need this service,” she said. “It’s more along the lines of, ‘I’m here if you need me, and I’m happy to help.’”
