Newberg Treasures and Thrift Indoor Flea Market Seeks Vendors

A new, local indoor flea market is coming to Newberg and seeking vendors for their upcoming market on March 2, 2024. The market will take place at 200 S College St. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Motivated by the desire to offer a fair platform for local community members to sell items without the constraints of the elements, Newberg Treasures and Thrift is a haven for those looking to buy and sell at reasonable prices,” stated a release from the organization. “This initiative addresses the need for an alternative to traditional retail and donation centers.”

The event will feature local vendors selling a diverse array of options, according to the release. This includes new and used clothing, shoes, hats, boots, kitchen and household appliances, crafts, handmade items, antiques, collectibles, vintage items, plants, toys, games, DVDs, baby clothes, video games, and much more.

“Newberg Treasures and Thrift anticipates a fantastic turnout and expresses gratitude for the overwhelming support received from the community. This indoor flea market not only provides a platform for individuals to sell their items but also creates a safe space for buyers to discover unique treasures at affordable prices.”

Habitat for Humanity Hiring and Seeking Volunteers

The Newberg Area Habitat for Humanity is hiring for a part-time administrative assistant and four volunteer positions.

Bilingual (English-Spanish) language skills are preferred. Pay for Administrative Assistant position depending on experience, base pay $20/hr. Minimum of high school diploma or GED required.

Habitat for Humanity is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which builds safe, decent, and affordable homes for local families in need. Passion for our mission is strongly desired.

City of Newberg Commences Annual Tree Trimming Program

The City of Newberg is preparing to trim trees and shrubs around streets and sidewalks as part of the city’s Tree Trimming Program. The effort will focus on zone three, which encompasses the northwest part of town. Door hangers will be left on homes and businesses letting them know if trees on their property will be trimmed in the near future.

“Newberg’s streets and sidewalks are lined with trees and shrubs that enhance our community but overgrown foliage at sidewalks, bike lanes, and roads are unsafe,” stated a release from the city. “Disabled persons are unable to use sidewalks and students and seniors are forced onto roads. Businesses loose foot traffic and deliveries are delayed. Our community is better when vegetation is maintained.”

The is a courtesy to property owners to make transportation safe for all users, according to the release. the lowest branches of should be no lower than eight feet above a sidewalk, and 14 feet above a gutter. The city’s tree maintenance standards increase those minimums to nine feet and 18 feet, respectively.

Call to Artists: 30th Art Harvest Studio Tour

The Art Harvest Studio Tour of Yamhill County has released a call to artists to participate in the 30th annual event.

The Art Harvest Studio Tour is an annual event where local artists open the doors to their studios and galleries to a curious public. In many cases, the artist works while people visit and mingle.

“Since [1993], thousands of visitors have come to beautiful Yamhill County to meet some of the area’s most talented artists,” the organization states on its website. “They watch demonstrations, admire creative studios and purchase their work.”

New artists wishing to participate in the event need to submit an application before March 10, 2024. Returning artists should submit their application before March 17, 2024.

La Terra Rossa Coffee Company Opens in Newberg

La Terra Rossa Coffee Company is now open in Newberg, Oregon. The Coffee roaster does not have a physical location and mostly sells online to start. The company is founded by Michael Youngberg from Bend, Ore. according to the company’s website.
