On January 15, 2024, around 11 a.m., a staff member working at Newberg City Hall contacted the Newberg-Dundee Police Department (NDPD), reporting water spraying from the ceiling on the second floor of the building. Public Works Maintenance staff arrived on the scene shortly after and stopped the flow of water, which came from a burst pipe in the fire suppression system.
This incident occurred during the Pacific Northwest’s January 2024 ice storm.
“With this second set of reopening at temporary locations, basic city services have been reestablished in less than a week,” the press release reported. “Updates will be posted when City Hall is back to regular operation, and city staff are able to move back in.”
According to the press release, repairs at City Hall could take more than 12 weeks before the building is ready for staff to move back in.
