Le Okay Juice Shop Opens in Newberg

Le Okay Juice Shop is open in downtown Newberg, ready to serve an eager town with smoothies and juices made from whole foods along with coffee, tea, and small bites.

After Teeter Totter candy shop closed in April 2023, the storefront at 510 E. 1st Street has been shrouded in mystery with papered-over windows. The door covering provided the only hint: a repeated “Le-Okay” in royal blue on a white background.

And now, after much anticipation, Le Okay Juice Shop peeled the paper from the windows and opened its doors in Newberg on December 16, 2023.

As a French-inspired juice shop, they serve juices and smoothies made from whole fruits and vegetables, along with coffee, tea options, and some snacks.

“Le Okay started as a complaint, and my husband had the idea,” said co-owner Beki Vigil. “It used to be part of our rhythm to grab a juice or a smoothie, and it drove me nuts that I had to drive half an hour to get a decent healthy snack. We figured we should stop complaining and do something about it, and we’ve always had the entrepreneur itch.”

The idea that Newberg residents shouldn’t have to travel for healthy food options drove Beki and her husband, Jacob, to partner with friends Tylor and Bria Wolter. The four started pulling a plan together.

Beki has experience in the wine industry, while the rest of the crew are “a total mashup,” she says, with experience in coffee, wine, restaurants, and videography.

“We started to really dream about it and felt that spark of life in a French-inspired juice café and knew this was the right move,” Beki said. “It’s been a smooth process overall, and we are thankful for that.”

While the shop’s focus is on the food behind the bar, it also has an array of small, curated retail items and coffee from Heart Coffee Roasters in Portland, Oregon — including a Le Okay branded “Stereo Blend.”

The Le Okay name, Beki said, nods to French inspiration for the shop with “Le” (French for “the”), while the rest comes from a motto in their friend group: “We go high, and we go low.”

“We love fine food and wine, but we also love a late-night cheap pizza after the kids go to bed. It happens,” she said. “The name Le Okay invites people into the balance of not taking yourself too seriously while still caring about what’s important.”

Beki said they’re mostly excited about being a home away from home for Newbergians, especially in winter when people need healthy, nutrient-dense options to fend off sicknesses.

“We can’t wait to serve you something good for your whole self,” she said. “Bring your babies, books, and friends — it’s all yours, Newberg.”

To start, Le Okay Juice Shop is open Wednesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Beki said they’re hoping to add more days in the New Year.
